Better Digestion With Reflexology

How Can Reflexology Help?

Many digestive symptoms and problems can be alleviated with Reflexology. Reflexology helps heal from the inside out. There is an entire network of reflex points on the feet that can be linked to the different areas of the digestive system. The colon itself has a series of reflex points that can be traced to the reflexes of the feet. By applying pressure to these reflexes on the feet, the body is encouraged to begin healing itself.

Using Reflexology to help the body function properly is a safe and effective method to help reduce the problems our digestive systems experience. As it is said that all dis-ease starts in the colon, it is important to maintain a healthy digestive system. I have taken addition training and am certified to offer 'Better Digestion with Reflexology'. It is quite fascinating and I look forward to helping you.

The digestive system is a very important part of the body. It's how we get the nutrients our body needs to function properly and stay healthy.

Digestion starts in the mouth. As our teeth gnash our food, saliva is released containing the enzyme amylase, a powerful digestive juice which begins the break down of our food. Saliva moistens food to make it easier to swallow. Thoroughly chewing your food into a liquid paste helps to digest, absorb and eliminate the food much more effectively. When food is chewed thoroughly it is far easier on our digestive system. If we gulp down our food without chewing it properly, big chunks of food go into the stomach. There are no teeth in the stomach to help break down the big chunks of food and as a result, food stays in the stomach longer, which can lead to gas, bloating, fermentation and indigestion.

After the stomach, the broken down food moves into the small intestine. This is where most of the nutrients are extracted. As the food moves through the small intestine, it is mixed with bile, which is produced by the liver, as well as pancreatic juices. These two liquids help break down the nutrients in food to the point where it can be absorbed by the blood.

The final components of the digestive system are the large intestine or colon, the anus, and the urinary tract, which separate the liquid matter from the solid matter and send them to their respective exit ports.

You can help your digestive system by drinking water and eating a healthy high fibre diet. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains make it easier for the poop to pass through your system. I also try to limit the amount of white flour and white sugar in my diet. Flour can act like Elmers glue in your system (not a good thing for elimination).

The Colon

Stress from any cause can and will render the colon dysfunctional. You can think of the colon as the body's sewage system. The colon is the body's last chance to absorb the water and minerals into the blood. What's left get harder and harder as it keeps moving along until it becomes a solid. Yup, this is poop. Food moving through a healthy colon takes about 24-36 hours. Faster usually indicates an accumulated layer of debris preventing the colon from digesting food. Slower usually means impaction or distortion of the colon is slowing down the process. Reflexology is a very natural and effective way of natural colon cleansing. Most people notice improved mood and increased energy when they have a clean, properly functioning colon.

Poop

A healthy bowel movement is a stool that half floats and half sinks in water. It should be soft and easy to pass. In a healthy colon there should be one bowel movement for each meal. Although there is no steadfast rule for the frequency of bowel movements, the general range is from 3 per day to three per week. Less than three per week may indicate constipation.

Autointoxication

Autointoxication occurs when the body absorbs too much of its own toxic waste. Autointoxication is the outcome of an imbalanced diet and faulty bowel function. It is the root cause of many of today's disorders and illnesses.
