Foot Pain & Plantar Fasciitis

If you are experiencing foot pain, I would recommend you come in for a Thai Reflexology session and foot pain assessment. Thai Reflexology helps increase blood flow which promotes healing through the delivery of oxygen and the removal of toxins. Based on the assessment of your pain, we can discuss a protocol to help you overcome the problems. A series of passive and active stretches with compression may be incorporated into the sessions. These stretches have also been found to help with sciatica or sciatic pain. The sessions will be approximately 1.5 hours.

WHAT IS PLANTAR FASCIITIS?

Plantar Fasciitis is an irritation of the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a ligament band running from your heel to the ball of your foot. This band pulls on the heel bone, raising the arch of your foot as it pushes off the ground. But if your foot moves incorrectly, the plantar fascia may become strained. The fascia may swell and its tiny fibers may begin to fray, causing plantar fasciitis.

CAUSES

Plantar fasciitis develops from overuse and stress on the fascia and is often caused by poor foot mechanics. If your foot flattens too much, the fascia may over-stretch and swell. If your foot flattens too little, the fascia may ache from being pulled too tight.

SYMPTOMS

Although the symptoms may first appear only in the heel, the condition affects far more that just the heel of the foot. With plantar  fasciitis, the bottom of your foot may hurt when you stand, especially the first step in the morning. Pain can occur on the bottom of the heel or on the inside of the foot, near the spot where your heel and arch meet. Pain may lessen after a few steps, but it comes back after rest or with prolonged movement.
